This article describes the model ALP121 PROFEUS-DP communication module (for FlO), which acts as the PROFBUS-DP master device (called the master device) and communicates and exchanges data with the PROFBUS-DP slave device (*1)(called the slave device).

The PROFBUS-DP communication module can be installed on the field control unit (AFV3O01, AFV4OD). It can also be installed on an ESB bus node unit (ANB30D) and an optical ESB bus node unit (ANB400) connected to AFV10 or AFV11.

PROFEUS-DP slave devices represent fieldbus devices connected to PROFBUS-DP communication cables. PROFBUS Remote /O and PLC are PROFbus-DP slave devices. HART devices and 4-20 mA analog devices connected to PROFIBUS Remote/O.API 121 modules can also be connected to PROFIBUS-PA devices via PROFIBUS DP/PA couplers with reference to PROFIBUS-PA device data.
